Yesterday (10-22-03) was probably the worst day of my life. I haven't even had my 01 R6 CLE for 2 months, and now the thing is in pieces. Here's the story:

I was at home, watching the Simpson's, when my brother and his buddy came over to show me his buddy's new Katana 750. The bike was OK, but I wasn't really interested in it. They asked me to riding with them, so I suited up and brought out the 6. We messed around on the street for a little while, then we started to leave, going down towards the end of the street- going pretty fast. Well, the guy on the Katana didn't know we were leaving, and I was coming up right behind him. I was probably going about 40 MPH. Guy didn't look behind him before pulling a U-Turn about 20-30 feet in front of me. I grabbed at the front brake and the bike was at a 45 degree angle when I ran into his left mid-rear part of his bike. My bike then did a summer-salt over the top of his- throwing me about 20 feet forward- out of the way. My bike landed hard on the rear and the sub frame is mangled. The front is trashed and the right side is rashed. My new 3 day old Blue Flame Carbon Fiber pipe is now punctured. The pictures below will tell the rest. It's just so sad. I have full insurance, so I will be calling it in today. I am not sure what I would have done different if he pulled in front of me again. There wasn't a whole lot I could do. His bike just has a few rips on the seat and a cracked tail fairing. He was OK. I went to the ER cause I thought I broke my wrist. I am glad I was wearing my Alpine Stars Stunt leather jacket. If it wasn't for that, I would have had some serious problems on my right arm. My wrist had no breaks, but I guess it got spranged really badly. I am surprised I didn't get more hurt. Anyways.. here's the pix:
